Have fun while learning the fundamentals of pottery hand building in this immersive and intermittent 3 day workshop. This workshop is perfect for those who don’t have any experience working with clay as we will focus on hand-building techniques such as:
We will create a piece of work from each technique and create 3 functional pottery pieces or more if time allows! While working, we will also learn about ceramic vocabulary and all the fun ways to use everyday objects to get incredible texture and decoration on our finished pieces. All projects will be guided by Lisa and she will work along with the students in order to demonstrate how to properly handle the clay and help with hand-eye coordination.
This workshop will span, intermittently, over 3 days. The first day will be a full day of learning, building, and completing our wonderful pottery pieces. During the first day, we will also schedule an upcoming day for us all to return for a 3 hour glazing session. We will also schedule the third and final day to come in and meet for an hour to pick up our glazed and finished pieces. During this final session, we will close the workshop by discussing what we learned and what we love about each other’s work.
During the first day, we will take breaks as needed and will stop for lunch as well. Please bring a snack lunch. Coffee and water is offered for free.
All materials are included, however, please consider bringing the following to make yourself as comfortable as possible:
Apron or smock.
Towel (Towels will be available, however, if you’d like to use your own, please feel free to bring one).
